On August 17, Luo Hui, Deputy Director of the Office of the Leading Group for Meteorological Services of the Xi’an Expo and Deputy Director of the Xi’an Meteorological Bureau, and his team joined hands with the lightning protection experts of the Shaanxi Meteorological Bureau to provide the order management department, cleaning department, and park exhibition of the Expo Management Office. More than 100 staff from the library management department, order maintenance brigade and other departments held lectures on lightning protection and risk prevention.
Ren Jianfang, a lightning protection expert from the Provincial Meteorological Bureau, used a well-prepared ppt courseware of lightning protection science to explain the basic knowledge of lightning and lightning monitoring and forecasting services for the Expo to the trainees in an easy-to-understand manner. By enumerating vivid lightning disaster accident cases, Ren Jianfang also explained to the students the correct methods and practical skills to help tourists avoid thunderstorms and prevent lightning attacks when they encounter thunder and lightning during the park. At the scene, the trainees are now learning and doing, and they have mastered a lot of lightning protection knowledge and postures on the spot.
This lecture caused a enthusiastic response. The participants not only carefully filled in the "2011 Xi'an Expo Volunteer Meteorological Service Demand and Opinion Survey", and further clarified the meteorological needs, interactive feedback methods, and meteorological warning information release and dissemination channels, but also scrambled to communicate with experts on lightning protection and avoidance in life Skills and methods.
During the period, Luo Hui also presented disaster prevention and mitigation reading books to each trainee, and talked to the trainees about the original intention and significance of the meteorological department's disaster prevention and mitigation knowledge lecture.
"Our security department really needs lightning protection knowledge. In times of frequent thunder and lightning, the knowledge lectures of the meteorological department gave us a boost!" Pan Xitang, deputy general manager of Weiyang Security Service Company, thanked us.
It is reported that the Expo is currently in the period of thunderstorms in Xi’an, and the daily average of 80,000 to 100,000 tourists, managers, cleaners, and tour guides who maintain order in the park are in the open air most of the time during the Expo. In working condition, once thunder and lightning occurs in the park and adjacent areas, it is very likely to cause losses. The lightning protection knowledge lectures of the Meteorological Department will be recorded as a video disc, and the training will be covered up to the core management of the park, down to the basic level such as security and cleaning, to protect the safety of the Expo.
